A minty example of a 429 Mustang is set to be auctioned at a Mecum event in Austin, Texas on the 16th of April. This 1970 Boss 429 in Grabber Green was part of a special one-off run of limited examples — 499 to be exact — made by Kar Kraft under contract to Ford. And as we see things, it’s one of the more interesting Mustang examples around. Think about the era: the 429 had the chops on the drag strip, and Boss nameplates were all over the Trans-Am series, so why not put both together?

Special edition Mustangs have crossed the block at various costs, but this one is a bit intriguing to watch. It’s a limited edition, but it doesn’t have the Shelby name attached to it. It could be one of those rare circumstances that demand hasn’t caught up with supply. But one thing is clear, the way this restoration was done leaves no detail unchecked. Regardless if it is a limited example, everything on the car is perfect in every way. So for us, it ticks three very important boxes: “clean,” “429,” and “Boss.”
