Steeda Q850 StreetFighter Is a Proper 825 HP Sendoff for the S550 Mustang
As the all-new S650 prepares to launch, the Steeda Q850 StreetFighter gives us a powerful and highly capable pony car right now.
As every Mustang fan on the planet is already well aware, the S550 generation model is on its way out, with just a few months of production left before the all-new S650 debuts this summer. However, it’s still a wildly capable machine, one that can be modified to coax impressive performance from. The latest example of that is this – the brand new Steeda Q850 StreetFighter, which is a proper send-off for the S550 Mustang that offers up some seriously impressive performance.
The Steeda Q850 StreetFighter certainly looks the part, thanks to a host of exterior upgrades including Steeda exterior graphics and badging, a Q-Series hood blackout treatment, a new front fascia “enhancement package,”and Steeda’s own rear spoiler. The enhanced pony car rolls on a set of 20×9″ front and 20×10.5” rear McQueen Racing Wheels by Steeda, which are wrapped with Nitto NT555 G2 tires measuring 275/35 up front and 315/35 in the rear.
Underneath, the StreetFighter has been treated to a laundry list of upgrades such as Steeda dual-rate ultimate handling springs, front and rear sway bars and billet aluminum sway bar mounts, new bushings, rear toe links, vertical links, a G-Trac K-member support brace, a bump steer kit, an IRS alignment kit and support brace, camber plates, Ford Performance half shafts, and Pro-Active struts and shocks.
Those things are welcome additions not only for a stock Mustang GT, but especially one that’s cranking out 825 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque, as is the case here. The car’s 5.0-liter Coyote V8 has been enhanced with the addition of a Steeda/Whipple 3.0-liter Stage 2 supercharger, along with Steeda’s high-flow air intake system and custom PCM calibration, which propels it to 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds, as well as down the quarter-mile in 10.23 seconds at 146 mph, while top speed comes in at 183 mph.
Better yet, customers can choose from a series of additional upgrades ranging from a beefier cooling system to a 10-rib supercharger belt to different wheels and tires, so the customization possibilities here are virtually endless. The cost for all this goodness is $34,995 – donor car not included – but given how comprehensive the Q850 StreetFighter upgrade is, that seems like a pretty solid value.
