Super-soothing video shows a Ford plant’s Mustang assembly line process from sheet metal to complete cars in just 10 minutes.

For the most part, Mustang owners have never seen how Ford builds their cars. Sure, many know a myriad of details about where it was built, who put what together, and a host of other details. However, it’s not common that you’ll find someone who knows what the entire build process looks like from start to finish. However, if you’ve ever been curious, there’s great news. This awesome video shows the whole process.

An entity simple known as Car Channel posted this video to YouTube showing the assembly process of the Ford Mustang. Of course, it goes beyond just the assembly of the car. According to the description, it shows footage from the Ford Flat Rock assembly plant in Michigan, the Cleveland, Ohio engine assembly plant,  and the transmission assembly plant in Livonia, Michigan. All said and done; this is an awesome 10-minute experience!

Keen-Eyed Viewers Will Notice a Bit of an Error

The video opens with a complete Bullitt S550 Mustang rolling off the assembly line.

However, it quickly cuts to the beginning stages of the Mustang. Like most cars, the Mustang starts its life as a pile of sheet metal. The sheet metal is loaded into various presses that form the shapes of the body and floor pan. Though we’re not entirely sure, the video appears to show the pressing of the roof and transmission tunnel.

Next, the video cuts to the assembly of some beautiful, shiny, brand-new Ford engines! There is, however, a bit of an issue that most Mustang fanatics will quickly notice. In the video, the engines Ford workers are assembling are V6s. Being that this video opened with a Bullitt Mustang, there are a few assumptions that one could make.

One, which is a bit less likely, is that this footage varies in age, and the V6 assembly reel was shot before Ford discontinued the V6 powerplant in Mustangs in 2017. Alternatively, the more likely scenario is that these engines are not destined for Mustangs.

The description says it was shot at the Cleveland engine assembly plant. So, the latter is the more likely scenario. The Cleveland engine plant did build some historic V8s (351 Cleveland, anyone?). However, since 2009, the Cleveland plant’s specialty has been the iconic 3.5-liter Ecoboost twin-turbocharged V6 engine. That’s likely what we’re looking at in this video. Still, the inside look at the engine construction process is appreciated!

Final Touches

After a look at the engine assembly, we venture back to Michigan, where we see the transmission assembly sequence. Then, back to the Flat Rock assembly plant to watch the whole ensemble come together as workers use specialty tools to bolt the subframes and powerplants to the chassis and perform the final assembly steps.

Obviously, writing out every nitty-gritty detail of the assembly process would get a little long-win ed. What we’re trying to say here is that this is an awesome video that gives a great behind-the-scenes look at the construction of our favorite cars. Check out the full video below!
