Mustang Dark Horse Sends the S550 out in Blackout Style

Leaked new Mustang Dark Horse special edition gives a sinister black hue to everything from badges to wheels on this evil-looking S550.

Last year, Ford put out the Ice White Edition option for both the standard Mustang and the Mustang Mach-E. Though it certainly suits the needs of many (maybe even Vanilla Ice?), it didn’t quite do it for everyone. Now, though, the Mustang Dark Horse special edition is here to provide balance. If you like your Mustang with a sinister blacked-out look, you may want to start saving a down payment!

Carbuzz found out about this yet-to-be-announced special edition Mustang, and we couldn’t help but share! Ford hasn’t acknowledged it as of yet. However, Carbuzz got word of it thanks to Ford filing a trademark application in Europe. So, we all owe the European Union Intellectual Property Office a thank you for this leak!

The Devil Is in the Details

Of course, given Ford’s lack of an official statement on this sinister special edition, we don’t yet have all the ins and outs.

What we do know, though, is that this package is a full-blown blackout venture. It included black-painted wheels and features black Ford emblems, badges, and trim elements. Furthermore, though it’s a bit hard to tell from the pictures, it almost looks like the Mustang in the photos is matte black. Though matte black does indeed give a stealthy sinister look, these black accents and components would also look pretty killer on a gloss black body.

Additionally, many other auto manufacturers offer similar packages regardless of the color of the car. Realistically, black accents go with just about any body color. So, if Ford strays away from the iconic Henry Ford “any color you could want” ideals with the Dark Horse package, it’s sure to come out looking pretty good.

Finally, the iconic Mustang insignia is said to be black with small chrome accents. That’ll get you a nice little reflection of light right where you need it.

The Dark Horse Likely Won’t Add Any Power

Unfortunately for those hoping for a Roush supercharger or a touch of Shelby, the Dark Horse special edition is likely only to be an appearance package. There’s nothing wrong with dreaming, though! Who knows?

Likely, the Dark Horse package will be available on both the standard Mustang and the Mustang Mach-E, just like the Ice White edition. For now, all we can do is speculate. That’s a bit unfortunate, though, because we want a closer look at this awesome blacked-out Mustang.
