Although we undoubtedly love the new newest Shelby GT500 and its fearsome 760 horsepower supercharged V8, we have to respect its older siblings. The S197 GT500 offers a phenomenal driving experience. Furthermore, they are far more affordable than a current GT500. However, you’d best get in while the water is hot. Low-mileage manual GT500 examples from the S197 era are getting harder and harder to come by. Prices are undoubtedly going to go up. This 2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 finished in Deep Impact Blue Metallic with only 29,100 original miles on it is currently up for grabs on the auction site Cars and Bids. At the time of writing, it’s got a high bid of $35,000. However, that is sure to go up, as there are still six days of auction time left. Though this car is largely stock, it does have a couple of modifications in the mix. Let’s take a look at what this gorgeous car has to offer!
The Almighty Six-Speed Manual Transmission
If for nothing else, you have to appreciate the S197 GT500 for its availability with a six-speed manual transmission. This particular example is indeed equipped with one, so it’s a hot commodity among collectors and driving enthusiasts alike.
Aside from the gear shifter, the car has a Charcoal Black interior theme with ripped leather seat inserts bearing the iconic Shelby racing stripes to match the exterior. The interior looks remarkably clean, much like the exterior, thanks to the vehicle’s low mileage. Even the creasing of the leather seats is pretty minimal, which is not an easy thing to maintain.
Modifications to this awesome GT500 include an aftermarket Kenwood double-DIN stereo head unit and detachable rear quarter window louvers. The most noticeable modification, though, is undoubtedly the Roush exhaust system. Though it is a modification, a louder exhaust is almost a requirement on these vehicles.
