Wildly Modified New Edge Mustang Has TVs Everywhere – Including on Its Brakes
This New Edge Mustang is a relic from the custom car world that has some of the craziest mods we’ve ever seen.
The 1990s and 2000s were wild times in the world of automotive customization, with builders constantly doing whatever they could to one-up each other. Much of this was spurred on by TV shows like Pimp my Ride and West Coast Customs, which routinely churned out some of the silliest, most over-the-top vehicles you’ll ever see in your lifetime – all in the name of ratings. It worked for quite some time, though the majority of the hastily built machines from the former, at least, are no longer around. However, this purely insane 1999 New Edge Mustang up for sale at International Car Center certainly conjures up memories of that long-gone era.
With just 21k miles on the clock, this New Edge Mustang certainly qualifies as a blue chip find, but it’s about as far from stock as one of these cars can get. For starters, the previous owner treated it to a full-blown Saleen appearance upgrade in the form of a full body kit, chrome 18-inch wheels, and a convertible styling bar. There’s also a Cervini’s Cobra R style hood, Terminator mirrors, and bright yellow paint, but that pales in comparison to the totally revamped interior.
Peek inside, and you’ll find loads of custom fiberglass with a stereo system composed of multiple speakers and amps, front and rear cameras, Auto Meter gauges, Cobra bucket seats, rolls of suede, a pair of fake nitrous bottles for appearances’ sake, a remote-controlled parking brake, and glovebox-mounted controls for the HVAC system and convertible top.
Then there are the TVs, and there are a lot of them – 20, to be exact. You’ll find screens virtually everywhere on this New Edge Mustang, including in the bumpers, convertible styling bar, side mirrors, trunk, and, well, somewhere we’ve never seen them before – the brakes. Yes, there are four TV screens – one mounted at each corner, hanging next to the calipers, just in case you want to catch up on your favorite show while you’re cleaning your wheels and tires, we suppose.
Aside from that, this pony car has a few performance upgrades to boot, including a Vortec V1 supercharger, Flowmaster long tube headers, and that same company’s American Thunder catback exhaust. The asking price for all of this insanity is $29,990, which we imagine is a mere fraction of what it cost to build. But then again, it’s going to take a special kind of buyer to want to plunk down that kind of money for a rather hilarious relic of the custom car circuit’s past, we suppose.
