V6 Mustang Owners Have Tons of Fun, Too

Rick Mitchell's V6 Mustang

V6 Mustang owners are the most loyal and enthusiastic fans out there. Here’s proof why you don’t always need eight-cylinders.

The 3.7 liter V6-powered Mustang doesn’t get a lot of love around these parts, or anywhere on the Internet, really. Even Ford gave up on the V6 in favor of the turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder recently.

To fans of the V6 Mustang, that doesn’t matter. V6 owners are among the most loyal and most enthusiastic Mustang fans out there. Knowing this, Ford Performance recently profiled one V6 owner, Rick Mitchell.

Rick is the proud owner of a 2014 coupe he bought new in September of that year. Although he’s covered just 13,000 miles since, he’s taken the Mustang to 82 car shows. It’s clear that this Mustang spends most of its time being shown off and enjoyed.

So enthusiastic is Rick that he’s organized the Mustang 3.7 Connection, a website and enthusiast group for 3.7-liter V6 Mustang owners.

In case you can’t tell, Mitchell’s passion for six-cylinder Mustangs runs deep. His first Mustang, an Arcadian Blue ’66, was powered by a 200 cubic inch inline six. He also bought new Mustangs in 1995, 2000, and 2004, all of which were V6s.

If we could hazard a guess, we’d say that his current Mustang is his favorite. It’s hard to argue with 300 horsepower and 30 miles to the gallon, after all.

Like most Mustang owners, Mitchell has modified his car with a selection of upgrades to personalize his car to his taste. Aside from the Airaid cold air intake and a cat-back exhaust, most modifications are visual.

There’s several polished accessories under the hood, and visual trim additions that capitalize on the retro looks of the 2014 Mustang. We personally like the louvers and shorty antenna the best.

Rick Mitchell is one of the most enthusiastic Mustang owners around, and he proves that there’s more to owning Mustangs than just going fast.
