2020 Ford GT MKII With Ken Miles Livery

One of just 45 produced and the only one wearing a Ken Miles livery, this track-only Ford GT MKII is truly special.

Every Ford GT is special, no matter the generation or model year. But some are more special than others, of course, and this 2020 Ford GT MKII certainly qualifies as such. Just 45 of these track-only supercars will be built over the course of three model years, which obviously makes it rare. But this particular Ford GT MKII, set to cross the block at Mecum’s Indy auction in May, is also the only one wearing a livery that pays tribute to the legendary Ken Miles.

Miles, as everyone who’s seen Ford v Ferrari already knows, finished second at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans behind the wheel of his 1966 GT40 MKII but was basically robbed of the win. Regardless, he was part of the famous 1-2-3 finish that catapulted Ford to the forefront of endurance racing before his untimely passing just a few months later.

Miles’ legacy is certainly worth celebrating, and what better way to do it than with the newest GT supercar? Ford and Multimatic worked hand-in-hand to design the MKII as a sort of “no holds barred” version of the regular GT, one that isn’t bound by any sort of motorsports-sanctioned rules. The result is a full-blown track-dominating machine, albeit a non-street-legal one.

The Ford GT MKII is powered by a fortified version of the twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 that produces 700 horsepower. It’s more than capable of putting all of those ponies to the ground thanks to five-way adjustable Multimatic DSSV dampers, Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, and enough aero to keep a barn glued to the tarmac.

That includes an enlarged EVO front splitter, dual-element rear wing, carbon fiber front fender louvers, and underfloor and dive planes, which combine to help the GT MKII produce 400 percent more downforce than a “regular” GT. The rest of this glorious machine is all race car as well, with components including a MoTeC data acquisition unit, roof-mounted air intake, Sparco seat(s) with a six-point harness, a roll cage, and quick jacks.

This special one-off MKII has just 15 miles on the clock, and judging by the insane money GTs are raking in at auction these days, it figures to set a new high mark. Even though track-only cars tend to attract only a certain audience, we wouldn’t be surprised to see this amazing machine break the mold.
