Grab This One: Grabber Blue S197 Mustang Making 660 Horsepower

Supercharged S197

Low-mileage supercharged S197 Mustang has the beauty and the brawn. This well-built Mustang offers plenty to the new owner.

The S550 may be the latest and greatest generation of Mustang. However, there are still plenty of folks who love the older S197. Who needs an independent rear suspension anyway? Aside from that, there are many who just prefer the looks of the S197 cars. Slap a supercharger on one, and you have yourself a great looking car with big power. Oh, and it can dominate the newer S550 as well. Interested? Well, Bring a Trailer has a supercharged 2011 Ford Mustang GT that you have to see.

We have a love/hate relationship with Bring a Trailer. They always have cool cars to drool over. At the same time, they make us mad that don’t have unlimited funds to buy all these cool cars. The Mustang presented here is not over the top with massive wings, or crazy wheels. This is a tastefully done car that looks stunning in Grabber Blue. And it has just enough visual punch to make it stand out from the crowd. Above all, it has only travelled 15K miles and comes with a 6-speed manual transmission.

On top of the engine sits a 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger nicknamed the little blue pill. This little blue pill is responsible for most of the power gains, but not all of them. According to C.Chan who is the seller of the car the original engine had some work done before the Whipple came along. “Pro Dyno in South Carolina modified the OE engine with pistons, camshafts and revised heads that were ported and polished. There is a plaque on the center console with the VIN and business owners name stating that the HP at the time was 485 HP to the wheel when NA.” If you have any doubts about the current power claims, a dyno sheet is included in the sale.

Other modifications include Kooks full-length headers, a stainless-steel exhaust, three-piece 20-inch wheels, a GT500-style rear spoiler, Brembo brakes, Pedders coilovers, 3.73:1 differential gears, an MGW short shifter, and an Alpine amplifier with dual 10″ Kicker subwoofers. This is a solid build and will likely sell for far less than has been invested into it.

Interior

The inside of the car shows extremely well, as you would expect for a car that travels only 1,500 miles a year. Clean seats, carpets, and dash make this look like a new car. All of the manufacturers original literature is also included with the sale. Carfax report is clean and lists the current owner as being in California. Although the seller states the car is not CARB compliant.

Hood up S197

If you are a fan of the S197, or heck really any Mustang, we think you need to take a few minutes and look at this listing. This baby is sorted. You can make it a show car, a track car, a daily driver or all of the above. Above all, with EPA crackdowns and everything else, it is not getting any easier to build cars like this. And this one needs nothing but a new owner. So, what would you bid to put this S197 Mustang in your garage? Let us know over in The Mustang Source forums.
