1990 Mustang LX

Between two owners and 30 years, this 1990 Mustang notch logged only 29,000 miles, still has its original wheels and tires in a box.

By the start of the Nineties, the Fox-body Mustang had succeeded in pulling the name out of the dreary Seventies. The horse survived an attempt to shift the power to the front, the 5.0-liter V8 was making a healthy 225 ponies, and all was right with the world. Of course, it was also nearing the end of line, its styling not in line with the roundness of the new decade.

Yet, Fox-body ponies are still the bomb even now. There’s plenty of aftermarket support, which makes them very easy to work on. But how often do you come across a Fox like this? Barn Finds recently found a 1990 Mustang LX on eBay which still looks like it did in the year of Germany’s reunification.

In the 30 years this Mustang’s been around, its two owners logged just 29,000 miles on the 5.0. The second and current owner bought it from the first four years ago, adding 1,000 on the odometer. The AC unit’s been fixed to run R134a, resulting in a $2,100 investment in this time capsule of a pony.

And what a time capsule it is! Remember when interiors were anything but black or gray? You will with this flood of red carpet and cloth seats. The top of the dash may be black, but it’s a good accent for the red throughout the cabin. And those seats!

How often do you see 30-year-old cloth seats in any color look as good as they did new? Even the carpet is showroom-fresh today! The seller says he even has the car’s original 15-inch 10-hole wheels and tires, though those are likely in a box, as the current wheels are 16-inch chrome units.

“We really love this car, but we’re selling it to finish other projects,” writes the owner, steve-jf. “I know I’m going to regret selling it, but I have no other choice.”

The Stang recently passed smog in California, and all the original paperwork’s still with the pony. There are many Fox Body Mustangs still around today, but few are anything like this.
