Widebody Foxbody Mustang dubbed Foxzilla sports a clash between a Japanese tuner build and a 7.3-liter time attack warrior.

It never fails to impress us what graphic artists are capable of coming up with these days. Any amount of time spent on Instagram will net you with some pretty insane renderings. They span across just about every brand you could imagine. This one, though, caught our attention immediately. With the introduction of Ford’s 7.3-liter “Godzilla” V8 came the immediate dream of many Foxbody enthusiasts to plop one under the hood of the iconic Ford platform. This one, operating under the pseudonym “Foxzilla,” is about as wild as it could get.

Instagram digital art mogul Abimelec Arellano is no stranger to blurring the lines between reality and the digital world. The cars he posts on his Instagram account will convince you they are real. However fake they may be, they are still painstaking works of fantastic art.

Arellano states that the inspiration behind the body kit is the IMSA racing series. However, from our end, it almost looks like something you might see at a Japanese Bosozoku style car meet. Furthermore, the splitter and wing are reminiscent of something you’d see screaming at break-neck speeds up Pike’s Peak.

“Ford recently announced the availability of their heavy-duty 7.3-liter gas V8 as a crate engine, so naturally, I wanted to give it a go in a rendering. The car of choice was the ubiquitous Foxbody with an IMSA inspired custom body kit and an almost DeLorean like brushed metal finish,” says Arellano.

Foxbody Is the Perfect Fit

We don’t have to convince you to like the Foxbody, we assume. However, the lovely folks over at Autoevolution break down why this platform is such a good fit for the furious 7.3-liter engine.

“Now, you might be curious why the Fox Body, which was built between 1979 and 1993, was selected for the build. Frankly, this iteration of the Mustang was a natural choice, since it highlights one of the main assets of the crate engine, namely its relatively compact nature – since the 7.3L unit features a cam-in-block pushrod design, this is smaller than an overhead-cam V8 like the Coyote 5.0. As such, you can fit one inside a Fox Body or an olderĀ Ford without having to invest a small fortune in uber-complex body or suspension transformations,” writes Andrei Tutu of Autoevolution.

That being said, it doesn’t quite fit perfectly. At least, not with the intake setup in the renderings. A healthy chunk of the hood is missing to allow clearance for the intake. Though, we wouldn’t be too upset about making that sort of modification. You have to do what you have to do, right?

We hope to see a real Godzilla swap in a Foxbody/Foxzilla chassis sometime soon. While some criticize the Godzilla engine for its power figures, it certainly doesn’t have to stay at “only” 430 horsepower. Without forced induction, some are already pushing over 600 horsepower out of them. Additionally, Whipple Superchargers is developing a kit that pushes the big block beast well into the 700 horsepower range. Who doesn’t love a blown big displacement V8, right?
