Buying one of these 10 limited-edition carbon fiber GT500 Mustangs will help donate $1 million to the American Heart Association.

If you happen to have $625,000 burning a hole in your pocket and you’re just itching to spend it but need a really good reason to justify losing it, we’ve got fantastic news for you. You could be one of only 10 people to own one of these crazy carbon fiber GT500 recreations and each one sold will net a $100,000 donation on behalf of the buyer to The American Heart Association. If you’re not willing to do that math, that’s a total donation of $1 million once all ten examples have sold.

Classic Recreations will create these remarkable carbon fiber beasts. The entire body is bare carbon with signature GT500 body lines and, of course, the staple racing stripes recreated in two different hues of red. It’s truly beautiful. Moreover, it’s every bit as fast as it is gorgeous.

Classic Styling, Modern Power

Under the hood of this beast is a Gen III Coyote 5.0-liter V8. It’s also sporting a Magnuson supercharger and it’s mated to a Tremec T56 Magnum six-speed manual transmission. With a whopping total power output of 800 horsepower, Classic Recreations says it’ll sprint from zero to 60 MPH in just 3.2 seconds. Flat out, it’ll go on to a top speed of around 189 miles per hour. It’s more than just modern power, too. The car uses full double-wishbone suspension with fully adjustable coilovers and modern disc brakes. This thing is no straight-line hero, it’s ready to dominate the track. However, given the price and rarity, we have to assume none of the 10 examples will ever see such an experience.

As one might expect, a lot of that comes from the fact that the carbon fiber body is light. Classic Recreations uses aerospace-grade carbon fiber and a pre-preg casting process that optimizes resin use to create perfect lightweight and robust carbon fiber parts. The company also makes a carbon recreation of the Shelby Cobra, and that car’s body weighs in at only 88 pounds.

A Heartfelt Tribute to a Legend With a Good Cause to Boot

Inside, the car is laden with Carroll Shelby’s signature embroidered into the floor mats, seats, and more. In addition, both the exterior and interior wear American Heart Association Life is Why Campaign badges to commemorate the intent of these carbon fiber GT500 models. It’s an appropriate cause, given that Carroll Shelby’s racing career was cut short due to his heart issues.

Overall, these cars may be expensive, but you can’t ignore the amount of work that goes into them. Moreover, the cause they’re raising money for is one that everyone can agree on. Healthy hearts are never a bad thing!
