Carbon Fiber Shelby Cobra Diamond Edition

This Diamond Edition Cobra will be limited to just 10 copies worldwide and will pack a staggering 1,000 horsepower.

Is there any performance car more iconic than the Shelby Cobra? Even folks that could not care less about cars know what a Shelby Cobra is. Less than a thousand of the original cars were built from 1962 to 1967. They are rare, they are expensive, and they are highly sought after by collectors. And now the folks at Classic Recreations, a licensed Shelby builder, have a new Shelby Cobra that will be even more limited, just as expensive, and offer far greater performance than the original. This new car is a Carbon Fiber Shelby Cobra that they dubbed the Diamond Edition. This exciting new take on the classic Cobra will make its first public appearance during Monterey Car Week.

There will be exclusive views of the car on August 18 at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering 2023, and on August 19 at Exotics on Broadway. The display will offer folks an “exploded” view of the car. It will allow you to see the beautiful billet CNC-machined aluminum assembly components, the race car inspired chassis and other key details. The car is being positioned as a collectible race car. And with 1,000 horsepower on tap and a curb weight of just 2,300 pounds there is little doubt that this will be a formidable track weapon.

The car was created to celebrate 60 years of Shelby Cobra heritage. And by looking at the stat sheet this appears to be one hell of a celebration. The heart of the car is the 5.0L Gen3 Coyote engine hand built by Ford Racing. It is enhanced with a Magnuson Supercharger.

You get to control that power with a 6-speed manual Tremec T56 transmission. To help keep you on the track is a bespoke race chassis with an inboard cantilever suspension. 3-way adjustable coilover shocks. Out back is a custom independent rear suspension with CAD-designed billet rocker arms and spindles.

Wheels are three-piece Forgeline units that are wrapped in 295/35/18 tires up front and massive 335/30/18 meats out back. Stopping you are 6-piston (front), 4-piston (rear) BAER brakes. Over top of it all is a carbon fiber body that weighs a mere 88 pounds.

Dash

Inside the car you will find a carbon fiber dash with stunning Shelby Signature Diamond Edition, stripe-matched gauges. The seats are a custom diamond-stitched pair with a Diamond Edition medallion.

And of course, a racing harness to keep you in place. Performance-wise the car is expected to hit 60 mph in 3.2 seconds on the way to a top speed of over 190 miles-per-hour.Diamond Edition

Getting One

Only 10 of these beautiful creations will ever be built. And two of them have already been sold, so if you want one of the remaining eight you need to act fast. You also need a fat wallet.

Pricing starts at $1.2 million. But in addition to getting an amazing car you will get a stripe-color-matching carbon fiber helmet, a commemorative racing jacket and a build book. To reserve yours now click HERE.

Cobra

Old or New?

For the price of this Carbon Fiber Cobra Diamond Edition, you could get yourself an original 289 or even perhaps a 427 Cobra depending on the condition. But neither of them will have anything close to the performance capabilities of this new limited edition race car. Which would you choose?

Of course, the reality is that folks that have this kind of money probably don’t have to choose. They have one of each. And adding a Diamond Edition car to the collection would certainly be a thrill for anyone.
