Reportedly, the new Shelby GT350R lapped the infamous Nurburgring Nordschleife in just 7:32.19. Holy mackerel, that’s more than five seconds faster than Chevy’s Camaro Z/28.

After wide reports of the demise of the V8, a Ford rep shoots down that rumor while saying that the “V8 still plays an important role in our product lineup.”

After its smashing debut at the L.A. Auto Show last month, we knew it wouldn’t be long before the newly unveiled Shelby GT350 started popping up in the wild.

How can you really beat this idea? The flat-plane crank, 500-plus horsepower, proper-wheel drive (rear-wheel drive if you can’t figure that out), and of course, the shape of the 2015 Ford Mustang.

According to Road & Track, the GT350R will debut in Detroit this January. It will feature better brakes, more aero, a set of stickier tires, and much, much more.
