We love the Mustang GT, but we also know that from the factory, every car is flawed.

In the “One Take” video below, The Smoking Tire‘s Matt Farah and company feature this GT, which has seen a lot of the same mods that an enthusiast would likely put on their GT. This one in particular has an upgraded exhaust, upgraded shifter linkage, upgraded brake hardware, different tires, and more. For testing and evaluation, Matt takes this Mustang to Little Tujunga Road, a favorite of his, as well as a favorite of mine.

One thing is immediately clear, the Mustang takes to these mods very well. It doesn’t feel like an entirely different car, but a more planted, responsive, and solid machine. All of the suspension work makes this car act in unison with the wheels, rather than just floating on top of them. Aurally, it has seen some benefit from the new exhaust system, sounding amazing from the outside, and not annoying from within. Rowing through the gears is now just a snick away, with a shortened throw shifter, and that includes all linkage hardware, not just the lever. After applying all of those ponies, getting the car slowed down is still done by the stock pads and rotors, albeit with fluid that can handle higher temperatures, and stainless steel brake lines for a very solid feel.

Matt approves of these mods. What about you? We’d love to hear what you’ve done to your Mustang, and how the driving dynamics changed.
