Small Block Ford Turbo Cobra Wins Redemption “No Prep”

Redemption races attract some very high-quality builds and drivers, and Redemption No Prep 4.0 was no exception. While Boost 12’s 2200-hp turbo Cobra proved the highest of quality, the event also saw other awesome entries, such as the Cornfed Chevy S10, and BoostedGT.

Small tire races are notoriously unpredictable, as launches have to be absolutely perfect. Get that wrong and your car gets squirrelly. Or as the S10 saw on one pass, you might end up meeting a wall.

Boost12 showed that consistency wins, with solid launches all night; and happily, doing so with Ford power! Naturally, Chevy blocks get stuffed into Mustangs on a regular basis, but this small block Ford-powered car shows what’s possible. The “boost” in Boost12’s name comes from a 98mm turbocharger.

In this video, you’ll see the first few launches go without flaw, but then there’s some mechanical trouble that gets some of the team worried that they won’t make the final round. Thankfully, it was just a melted sensor, and replacing that piece made the issues go away. In the final round, it wasn’t even a contest. With the S10 in the right lane, and Boost12 on the left, the lights go green, the Chevy has a bad launch, and it’s all over from there. That pass gave Boost12 the win and the nice sum of $12,000 in cold hard cash.
