Mustang Shelby GT350 Battles BMW M2: Video

Track battle between two highly acclaimed performance coupes proves why Mustang’s appeal is so unique.

Here’s a bit of an odd match-up for Mustang fans. The BMW M2 and Shelby GT350 may share some of the same basic qualities as performance coupes. But the BMW is probably one of the last vehicles we would consider pitting against an American muscle car.

Then again, can anything compete with one of the most insane Shelby models to ever take the street? In our opinion, not really, but we’re biased.

In the crazy world of auto journalism, any two vehicles with similar qualities are fair game for comparison. E46 Reviews with T.H. seems to think that a match-up between the GT350 and M2 would be of interest, as detailed in a CarBuzz report. They definitely have our attention.

The initial thought is that any vehicle equipped with a V6 (cranking out 365 horsepower) is going to struggle against a car packing a monstrous 526-horsepower V8. But as we’ve learned over the years, you shouldn’t underestimate the abilities of the little guy – especially one that bears that iconic “M” badge.

As you might expect, the lighter M2 proved to be nimbler when cornering. Still, the overall match-up turned out to be a lot closer than we expected.
