Welcome to Planet Mustang.

No, that’s not the official name of the place. But as one of the biggest and most diverse assemblages of Ford pony cars in the world, the Segerstrom Collection is definitely worthy of the moniker. A gallery of photos recently posted in a Mustang and Fords report highlights that, as you can see in the few examples below.

However, the photos (or maybe more envy) made us want to know more about the people behind the Segerstrom Collection, and how they acquired so many Mustangs. Their names are Ted and Rae Segerstrom and the couple have more than 60 Mustangs they keep housed in a collection in California’s Orange County.

The Segerstrom’s wealth dates back to the late 1800s, when earlier members of the family first arrived in Orange County. The Segerstroms became the largest independent producer of large lima beans in the United States, according to numerous sources. The family eventually turned to commercial development and started a number of other retail ventures.

These days, they spend a substantial amount of their wealth on philanthropy, as well as the upkeep of one of the coolest Mustang collections in the world.

More photos of the collection can be found here. So check them out, then let us know which of their cars you most covet.
