S650 Style Headlights Totally Modernize the Looks of This S550 Mustang
For those that like the looks of the all-new S650 pony car, these new headlights are an easy way to upgrade a 2015-2017 S550 Mustang, GT350, or GT500.
It isn’t terribly often that we’re blessed with an all-new Ford Mustang, which made the arrival of the S650 generation for the 2024 model year a big deal. Though it isn’t radically different from the S550 Mustang in terms of styling, the S650 does feature a host of more modern updates – particularly inside the cabin, with big screens and the latest video game-inspired graphics tech. Thus, it stands to reason that at least some S550 Mustang owners may want to update their cars to look more like the latest version, and as it turns out, there’s a pretty easy way to do precisely that.
In this video from the YouTube channel CoyoteCamm, we see this 2017 Ford Mustang GT get treated to a new S650-style headlight update, which truly does transform the way the front end of this old model looks. While there’s certainly nothing wrong with the S550-style headlights, these updated units have a more modern appearance with a different take on the classic “three slash” design, coupled with a trio of individual LED light signatures and amber elements.
What makes these S650-style headlights for the S550 Mustang truly interesting, however, is just how easy they are to install. This is a true plug-and-play job, as they’re designed to fit perfectly in the factory openings and plug directly into the OEM harness – for both U.S. and European (the latter of which comes with an additional harness) Mustangs, and no cutting, splicing, or re-wiring harnesses is required. The headlights will fit 2015-2017 EcoBoost and GT pony cars (not the updated 2018-2023 models that got different headlights), as well as the GT350 and GT500, since those stuck with the older style units up until both were discontinued.
In terms of pricing, these S650-style headlights for the S550 Mustang retail for $800, but for those that want the option of choosing different colors, there’s also an RBG-style headlight upgrade that costs $1,055. The headlights also come with a one-year manufacturer’s warranty, which is always nice to have, and certainly look like quality pieces. Those interested in purchasing a pair can do so via the S550Euros site, which is located here.
