Restomod 1968 Ford Mustang Is VERY Pretty–with an Even Prettier Pricetag
Signature Series 1968 Mustang starts at around $269,900, while the Street Series and Convertible versions range up to $349,900.
The 1968 Ford Mustang from Velocity Restorations stands out as a remarkable blend of engineering excellence and stylish design. Built on a Roadstershop SPEC chassis, this Mustang is powered by a robust Coyote V8 engine, which is paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Its stunning “Acapulco Blue Glasurit” custom paint, complemented by striking racing stripes, undoubtedly draws attention wherever it goes. It sits confidently on 17-inch alloy wheels, perfectly combining classic aesthetics with modern flair.
Velocity Restorations has meticulously crafted this Mustang, and their craftsmanship shows through and through. Inside, it boasts a Velocity-exclusive interior that emphasizes luxury and comfort, including a RetroSound BT stereo and high-quality Focal audio speakers for sound.
Innovative Production Process
Velocity Restorations, located in Florida, is not your typical custom car shop. Unlike many that simply restore old Mustangs using off-the-shelf parts, Velocity operates out of a state-of-the-art 135,000-square-foot facility, with more than 160 employees. The company focuses on restoring classic cars while incorporating modern technology, creating a unique market niche.
The timeline for reimagined classics, particularly 1967-1968 Mustangs, can vary. Typically speaking, it takes around four months. Each vehicle is assembled on an advanced production line and undergoes thorough quality inspection, including approximately 500 miles of real-world testing. This commitment to quality ensures that each Mustang meets Velocity’s high standards.

Cutting-Edge Chassis & Suspension
Velocity Mustangs feature a completely new chassis engineered by Roadster Shop, recognized as the “go-to” standard frame for creating restomods. The chassis includes a modern independent front suspension and a five-link rear setup with a Panhard bar, enhancing handling and ride quality. Fox coilovers and robust roll bars further improve suspension performance, while a rack-and-pinion steering box provides modern steering responsiveness.
Each of these Mustangs is equipped with a Hydro-boosted Baer disc brake system, featuring six-piston calipers in the front and four-piston in the rear for precise control and safety.

Mustang Configurations & Features
Velocity Restorations offers two main configurations for their Mustang fastback: the Signature Series and the high-end Street Series. The Signature Series, often labeled as the “value option,” features a premium BASF Custom Glasurit finish and classic 17-inch aluminum wheels. Inside, it retains the original dashboard shape but comes equipped with modern amenities like a Vintage Air AC system and a powerful audio setup.
In contrast, the Street Series builds on the Signature features with additional upgrades, including painted Shelby-style Le Mans stripes, premium wheels, larger disc brakes, and upgraded suspension components. For those who prefer a convertible, it comes with a hydraulic top, too.
Performance Powerhouse
Regardless of the chosen configuration, every Velocity Mustang is powered by a 5.0-liter Gen III Coyote crate engine, delivering a remarkable 460 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with a Ford 10R80 10-speed automatic transmission or an optional Tremec T-56 six-speed manual transmission for enthusiasts who prefer a more traditional driving experience.
Investment or Indulgence?
With such exceptional specifications and craftsmanship, the Velocity Mustang comes with a significant price tag. The Signature Series starts at around $269,900, while the Street Series and Convertible versions range up to $349,900. While the build quality and performance are undeniable, potential buyers must weigh the investment against classic Mustangs that may hold better long-term value.
The Velocity Restorations 1968 Mustang is an incredible example of what modern technology and classic design can achieve together, making it a standout choice for car enthusiasts and collectors alike.
