Rumor: New Mustang Engine Line-Up Revealed?
In the midst of what’s believed to be an actual leaked photo of the next-gen car and a camo of the convertible model, a Morpace survey commissioned by Ford seems to reveal the engine lineup for the highly anticipated Mustang.
Mustang6G is reporting that inside sources have confirmed that while the displacements figures have been intentionally obscured, the survey provides pretty accurate details on the engine options. Listed are a 3.8L V6 engine with 300 horsepower and 290 ft.-lb of torque, likely the 3.7-liter; a 2.4L I4 GTDI Engine with 310 horsepower and 310 ft.-lb of torque, likely the 2.3-liter; and a 4.9L V8 engine with 430 horsepower and 396 ft.-lb of torque, likely a 5.0-liter.
The survey also notes fuel economy numbers for the three engines –19 city/29 highway for what is expected to be the 3.7-liter for the 6-speed manual base model; 22 city/32 highway for the 2.3-liter; and 18 city/28 highway for the 5.0-liter.
In addition, the Morpace survey notes that the base model will feature independent rear suspension, remote keyless entry, push button start and a possible starting price of $23,995 with standard equipment, which would be a $1,795 increase over the 2014 base model. But the higher price point is kind of expected with all the extras features supposedly being planned for the new model.
Yup, Ford’s vision for the new 2015 Mustang is really starting to become much clearer. And after some initial skepticism, I’m starting to really like how it’s all shaping out.
