Somewhat New Mustang Owner, New Forum User and Tuning Question

Hello! About 7 months ago I bought a 2006 Mustang GT with about 29,000 miles on it. Its an auto unfortunately but I've been having a blast anyway. Like I said in the title, I'm pretty new to higher horsepower cars (I drove a Ford v6 Explorer) and to forums in general so I'm sorry if my formalities are out of wack. For the tuning question, I've been looking at getting a tune for a good while now just to get a little extra power. The car currently has a K&N CAI and flow master exhaust on it. I've seen the same name pop up in the older threads about a guy who worked miracles on these 05-10 mustangs, especially the autos. If I recall correctly his name was Doug Studdard, the guy who created Bamachips. Does anyone know if he still does tuning? I'm really interested in getting a good tune done and if it could be from the master, I'd be ecstatic. Thanks in Advance.

Here's a couple photos of the car as well.

I'll definitely check him out then. I'm currently a poor college student sadly so what are my options when looking at handheld tuners to upload the tune? I do have a laptop so is there anyway to use that instead? Thanks In Advance

Anyway You Look At it You are Gonna Need a Programmer. Contact Lito and See What the Cost Will Be So You an Budget For it If You Decide That is the Way you Want to Go. With A Virtually Stock Engine It's Not Going to Be a Large Horsepower Increase But it Will Feel a Lot Better Seat of The Pants. Less Throttle Lag & Shift Points Changed a Bit.

Here is Little Cheat You Might Try. Run The Car Down to about an 1/8 of a Tank. Fill it With Premium. Disconnect Battery For About 10 Minutes and Then Reconnect. Drive it Around With Some Spirited Throttle Action Next Two Days. I am Saying Do Not Drive it Like You Were Trying To Squeeze Every Mile Per gallon Out of It! Don't Go Crazy But a Bit Aggressive & Ecm Throttle Response Will Relearn a Bit. See if After That in a Couple of Days If it Has a Stronger Feel To it! And Yes You Will Need To Keep Running The Premium! Not That You Could Not Go Back But it Will Simply Adjust For It Gradually.

welcome to the forum

Yep, Lito is the go-to guy now ... I think he charges $150 for a basic tune these days (nothing fancy like a supercharger) including datalogging; and yes I believe you do need a tuner device to upload the tune; but there might be some kind of adapter for a laptop. You can reach him by e-mail at support@tudyno.com and ask him about the device.

Unfortunately, Doug Studdard formally of Bamachips Custom Tuning sold his tuning business over to American Muscle well over 10 years ago, which goes by the name "Bama Custom Tuning"
As mentioned above, ever since American Muscle acquired the company, the tune quality has not been the same and I know thru personal experience, as I was a customer of both Bamachips and American Muscle/Bama tuning... I had nothing but tuning issue problems with Bama, but when Doug still owned Bamachips, his calibration tunes were always dialed-in and spot on... Therefore, I would not recommend becoming a customer of Bama custom tuning, but rather consider Lito custom tuning @ http://support@tudyno.com or consider JDM engineering @ https://www.teamjdm.com/

I've been a customer of JDM engineering for nearly 10 years and have been very satisfied with both their custom tunes and their customer support... They can also always be contacted by both phone and e-mail...
