Proud Mustang Owner Proves We Shouldn’t Take Our Rides for Granted
It might be easy for most of us to go out and buy a Mustang but for some, it’s an achievement all on its own.
It’s a story that we’re all quite familiar with. Man dreams of owning a Mustang for many years before finally saving up enough cash and making said dream come true. And it’s a story that applies to Redditor MrAmusedDouche. But in his case, his path to Mustang ownership was, well, a bit more complicated.
“I grew up in a 3rd world country where exorbitant taxation meant nothing that was remotely interesting was even close to being affordable,” the OP explained. “Years later, having moved to the first world, duties and responsibilities led me to buy a house and take care of my family before I could finally buy something that I feel is amazing: a simple Mustang GT. In my motherland, this car would probably cost $150,000 used!”
As proud as he is of his new purchase, the OP is obviously weary of a negative reaction. “I understand many of you may scoff at this and be like, ‘I see 25 of these on my commute every day.’ But it’s still the first car that I’ve ever had in my 30-something years that comes close to being a performance car.”
But this story is a little different, and it gives us a new appreciation for our own cars. Why, you ask? Well, something as simple as buying a car like this is easy for most of us. But for others, it’s virtually impossible.
We’re also betting that the OP didn’t expect to receive the incredibly positive response to his simple post that he did. Since he originally shared his story in this thread, it’s received hundreds of supportive responses and over 2,000 up votes. Proving once again that few communities are as tight knit as the Mustang community.
