Ford Unveils Performance Power Pack for Mustang
It looks like Ford Performance has paid attention to the iconic words of the wise Jeremy Clarkson: “More poweeeerrrrrr!”
Ford is little-by-little going back to being the performance powerhouse that it once was, mostly due to a prosperous balance sheet, as well as having already created plenty of fuel-efficient engines and vehicles. So now it’s time to play!
Ford Performance, the tuning division of the Michigan-based manufacturer, just pulled the sheets on three different performance packages. All three are now available for purchase and ready to give your Ford Mustang a much-needed power bump.
According to Ford, three different performance packages were designed for the Mustang GT, providing up to 472 horsepower along with a redline bump and no-lift-shift capability. These apply to the newest-generation 5.0 liter V8 Coyote engines. But wait, there’s more…
If you happen to own an EcoBoost-powered Mustang, there’s no need to feel left-out! Ford Performance also unveiled a new calibration kit for the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine, which boosts peak torque 70 lb.-ft., along with an additional 25 horsepower. That equals a total output of 335 horsepower for the “little” pony car.
The first power pack for the GT features a unique performance calibration and high-flow air filter, delivering peak gains of 13 horsepower and 16 lb.-ft. of torque. The second power pack includes a cold air intake, 87-millimeter throttle body, and intake adapter from Shelby GT350 Mustang, and a 21 horsepower gain and 24 lb.-ft. over the stock 5.0-liter V8 engine.
For those GT-owners that really want to go all-out, the third power pack moves the redline up to 7,500 rpm, and brings a substantial 37 horsepower bump and an extended powerband, along with a peak gain of 5 lb.-ft. of torque. This pack also features no-shift-lift technology for faster 0 – 60 mph times.
“Ford Performance Parts is a key part of our product strategy,” said Doug White, Ford Performance Parts manager. “Mustang is all about performance, and we know our customers look to us for performance options that are both 50-state-compliant and warranty-friendly.”
