New Video Pays Homage to “Bullitt” Chase Scene
Ask anyone to name a movie car chase scene, and the 1968 film “Bullitt” will likely top the list.
The famous road race between the 1968 Mustang Fastback and the ‘68 Dodge Charger from the classic Steve McQueen film is considered one of the most iconic ever.
Now, some 46 years later, Silverstone Classic is paying homage to the Mustang for the pony car’s 50th Anniversary by recreating the chase in Britain at the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit.
“It’s hard to imagine a better way for us to celebrate the Mustang’s forthcoming 50th birthday party than by making this special homage to the classic car chase in Bullitt,” said Nick Wigley, Silverstone Classic Event Director, in a prepared statement.
Most of the real action in the reenactment is played out on Silverstone’s track in Britain where the Mustang will be celebrating its 50th anniversary July 25-27; however, the video still manages to capture a lot of the nostalgia of the original chase filmed in San Francisco.
