Mustang Destroys All Competition on the Strip with 1675 Horsepower!

Yes, those are rear wheel horses we’re talking about. You wouldn’t believe what’s possible with a stock crank and stock heads.

There are few things you can do with a car that is quite as intimidating as popping a wheelie off the line. This effect is enhanced when the vehicle proceeding to do so is bright green. Today, we bring you video from That Racing Channel on YouTube, featuring a Mustang that holds no reserve to its ferocity off the line. The owner likes to it “The Snot Rocket.” We still don’t know why.

If you haven’t subscribed to That Racing Channel on YouTube and enjoy fast cars and drag racing, you probably should do so now and join over a million other people in supporting great content. The car they have brought us today is owned by Brett Lasalla from MSRacing, who brought this 2013 Mustang in 2014 as a used vehicle. According to Lasala, the car was slowly modified and was running the factory six-speed auto until this year. They currently still hold the world record E/T at 7.795 at 182 MPH with a 6R80 automatic transmission.

This transmission was built by MSRacing, using specific billet parts to get the Mustang into the 7s. You didn’t actually think a fully stock six-speed auto was going to pull that off did you? However, Lasala wanted to see just how deep into the 7s the Mustang could get, so he swapped in a PTC PowerGlide transmission to Mustang and ran a 7.33 at 187 MPH the first time out. If that’s not impressive, we don’t know what is.

This Mustang managed to hit those stellar times with the stock weight of 3500 pounds, including all factory interior, A/C, power windows, full glass windows, etc. The only weight reduction is added aftermarket seats and deleting the rear seats (not that you’d want to sit back there anyway). Of course the car features a full cage, suspension, Wilwood front brakes, with Weld Racing drag wheels sporting a 275/60/15 Mickey Thompson Tire. The rear differential maintains a stock housing with modified internals.

The engine is built by Fast Forward, a race engine shop and features a custom short block, with rods and pistons, but believe it or not, a stock crank and stock heads. Helping that engine breathe is a custom twin-turbo setup running dual Precision Turbo 64mm turbos at 35 PSI. With the a tuned factory ECU, the car made a ridiculous 1675 WHP. According to him, these turbos still have 10 or so more PSI before they run out of efficiency. The car runs race fuel on the strip and E85 on the street, thanks to custom injectors and fueling.

Watching the video, you’ll quickly realize that the Mustang literally destroys just about everything single other vehicle in competition, running consistent 7.3s at essentially every event. Next time you see a bright green Mustang popping the front end at your local drag strip, you better be paying attention.
