YouTuber StangMode Gracefully Loses Drag Race to his Wife

By -

East Coast personality takes his wife to the drag strip to race his beloved Mustang GT. He expected to be surprised, but he didn’t expect to be beaten.

StangMode, a popular YouTuber, typically shows his viewers beautifully modified or wrapped Mustangs. This time, StangMode changes his usual video subject by taking his wife, fellow social media butterfly Kira, to the drag strip to race his beloved Mustang named Green Mamba. Green Mamba, a 2018 Mustang GT 5.0, is custom wrapped and has several “performance” mods that aren’t made clear – but they’re evident with the time and speeds achieved by both parties.

In the video, StangMode introduces his viewers to his enthused wife. In the background, it’s clear that she’s both nervous and excited to be a part of this video. She even says, “I’ve never dragged, but I love to go fast, so this should be fun.” When he gets to the area they’re going to race the car, he has her suit up and put on a Snell approved helmet. There’s an older man evaluating the helmet before she wears it, saying to the camera that it’s important that any helmet is Snell approved, as it means that it’s been put through more rigorous testing by the Department of Transportation. Behind the wheel, Kira is seen bouncing and giggling with anticipation to race.

“You’re very young, I can tell. Take it from a veteran,” says the man evaluating his wife’s gear. “A happy wife means a happy life. She’s obviously very happy.”

And happy she was. After StangMode gave her a tour and a basic run down of the fundamentals of a successful drag race, she lined up the Green Mamba and waited for her turn to go. When the light changed, she took off – without a burnout, and without using the foot brake. Despite it being 95 degrees at the time of her first run, she earned herself an impressive 11.5 at 120 mph. StangMode was pleasantly surprised at how well she’d handled herself and the modified serpent of a vehicle. Kira, however, was convinced she could do better. So, she lines herself and runs again – earning another 11.5, but at 121 mph this time. StangMode was anxious to race and beat her (and let’s face it, to show off a little bit). Her third and final run, still without burning out or using the foot brake, earned another 11.5 at 121 mph.

Kira begged for another chance, since she was sure she could go faster. But, StangMode was eager to show her how it was done.

“If you beat me, you can have the channel for a little while.” Since a confident StangMode. He expressed to the camera mounted to the dash that he was nervous, given the fact that the temperature had risen to 102 degrees, and he was a “full 130 lbs heavier” than his wife. He lined himself up to have a go anyway.

After a monstrous burnout, he tore down the track, leaving his wife to film. As he circled around to collect his time, his expression spelled it out for his viewers: defeat. Though, it was only by a little. He scored an 11.6 at 119 mph. He began to banter about possible ways he’d lost to her – the heat, her weight advantage, etc. The one thing he could hold over her was a quicker reaction time. But, at the end of it, he was happy for his wife.

“I’m going to have to have her be my jockey, yo,” he says to the camera proudly. As he gets to her, he rolls down the window and says, “You actually could have a career in this, man. You’re really good. Let’s get a victory dinner.”

As the video drew to a close, the couple drove away in the Mamba, both with grins a mile long. After all, a couple that drags together stays together, right?
