YouTuber’s 5.0 Mustang Does Rebel Yell in U.K.
Despite England’s anti-Mustang narrative these days, this British host doesn’t hide his pony car fanaticism one bit.
British television presenter Rory Reid hosts this YouTube Carfection video about a new Mustang. However, it’s not just any Mustang: it’s his personal car.
According to Reid, he agonized over the purchase of a new car, and nothing else on the market provided the unique blend of performance, practicality, price, and exclusivity that the Stang did. While a Mustang may not seem exotic to us, they’re still fairly uncommon in Europe, where the Mustang is considered a large car and fuel is expensive.
Reid loves his triple yellow Stang, and we have to say that we dig his plate: “V8 OOMF.” That about says it all.
He wanted to personalize his car to make it even more unique, as Stang owners tend to do. He started by swapping the stock front bumper for a GT350R unit. We’ve never seen this bumper on a convertible before, and we’d have to say that it looks great.
He also removed the pony emblem, replacing it with an offset Cobra emblem that’s been painted black. It’s a nice subtle touch. He also blacked out the 5.0 badges on the fenders.
Eibach lowering springs get the stance just right, while a cold air intake and Quicksilver exhaust improve breathing. Reid also installed a tuner. It looks like the infamous modification bug has bit him hard.
To close the video out, Reid drives us to a meeting of the Essex Mustang Owner’s Group. Much like Stang club meetings in the US, owners gather in a parking lot and show off their custom modifications while admiring each other’s cars. It’s cool to get a window into what it’s like to be a Stang fanatic overseas.
