We think he can tell time. When it comes close for my sister or brother in law to come home, he's in the window watching or ringing the bell to go sit outside and wait.

Yup. There is a big 3 or 4 inch jingle bell on a string hanging on the wall next to the door. They are trained to hit it with their nose so it bangs against the wall and make it ring when they want to go out.

They are very smart! The boys can tell the difference between Justin's diesel and this other guy that lives in our neighborhood. When they hear jt they start getting excited and barking.

That's awesome. I was picturing one of these....

and imagining them reaching over to the table and hitting it with their paw.

That would be a good trick. I just did a google search for the type of bell and found one that looks just like it.

Dogs have this uncanny ability to sense when their owners or loved ones are close to home. Dogs are smart creatures.

I saw something about that on TV once. They had the owners leave and drive by the house and the dogs knew it every time. I think they even tried driving their car without the owners, but I can't remember what happened. lol

Dogs are ****ing awesome. They love their people unconditionally. Doesn't matter if its a piece of crap that beats them and treats them like ****, dogs love you. And I love dogs, they are much better than most people nowadays.

Fact. I have so much more compassion for dogs than I do for most people. We are worse animals, than most of the animal kingdom. There are some messed up animals out there, but as far as mammals, we are pretty terrible. That's why I love going to the shelter. It breaks my heart that a lot of those dogs won't get adopted, but at least they get to spend some time outside walking or playing, not cooped up, before their fate. Some of them are sooo good too, I can't believe someone would give then up or not come looking for them if they got out. They just want to be loved.
