I have been to the one in Austin (Congress Ave Bridge). Pretty cool! We have bats downtown here but, not a giant colony.
The lady from the sanctuary said this type of bat should be in hibernation and that the crazy weather is wreaking havoc causing them to wake up way too early.
You have to be a member of Bat Conservation International to go to the Bracken Cave. They have member nights so you can go see the bats emerge. They also have a special night where you stay all night and watch them come home to roost as well. I would love to do that.

I make Al cry at night (well it would if he actually cared about the environment, but hes nothing more than a huckster trying to get rich, Bernie Madoff has nothing on Algore.). I haven't reset the mpg meter in the 500 in at least 1000 miles and it at about 15.5 right now. 
When I'm cruising around on the two lane back roads around here (which is most of the time) I keep it in 4th gear because I like the way if feels. Gas mileage would go up a lot if I'd put it in 6th, but I don't give a ****. I don't like the feeling of it lugging along, I keep it in 4th because I can step on it and the torque will set you back in the seat. Screw Algore.

I don't see as many around here the last few years as I used to. There would be tons of them swarming around at sundown eating bugs, now you only see a few.
I think that White Nose Syndrome might have something to do with it, they've found some that have it in caves in the region.

you bet .. i sold it for 700 bucks and bought a 440 six pac super bee .. i may be wrong about all shaker hood cars being r code drag pac cars . i have`nt talked about such things in so long .. i do know that a shaker hood could even be had with a 351 windsor ..

Yes, the shaker wasn't specific to the big blocks. I have a '69 Mach 1, 351 4V, automatic, factory A/C with factory Shaker. White with red interior. That's the way it came anyway...it's a basket case project at this point.
