Good practice. That's something I was taught in apparatus operator training, full walk around before the truck ever moves. I can't count how many times I've seen dudes pull a truck out and one of the side compartment doors being wide open

Have to do that with kids around especially. Never know what they may have dragged out there and left laying when something else caught their attention. Toys, bicycles, etc.

 

New car smell

 

If you actually knew what that new car smell was, you would Toxic chemicals seeping from the foams and plastics the interiors are made from. True ignorance is bliss deal right there.

 

I love toxic chemicals, I ingest them all the time.

I've had guys at work tell me that they actually jumped out of new vehicles on the lot because they smelled phosgene gas. There is no mistaking that smell when you're trained to get the hell out if you smell it at all. Just saying that fresh car smell when you first get in might not be the safest.
