I don't think I'll do the trim on the roof or around the windows, too much work IMO and I don't think it'll look any better. But I can't stand that shiny plastic stuff. It NEVER looks clean. I also wouldn't mind dipping the chrome grille surround.

Ok well your right about those upper biyts but the skirts all around are what im plannin. I also dipped my exhaust from the muffler to the tip in black as well

Ive never really noticed any swirls or anything really. Just make sure the surface is clean of any waxes, sealants, polishes and the like and properly mask it off. The only issue i ever had was residue from the painters tape but that was easily removed by a clay bar. Also i like to mask off a very large area to prevent any overspray getting on the car (black really shows on white lol). A lil extra prep goes a very long way. Also if doing stripes or anything similar make sure the dip is still decently wet when you peel the tape or else the lines will be a lil jagged. Pull the tape away in a sharp diagonal motion for the cleanest line.
I like to spray one quick coat right before i peel off the tape to ensure a clean sharp line. Just be careful for paper or tape falling onto the wet dip. This has happened to me several times and i had to redo the whole thing. Also if outside watch for tree sperm and bugs haha

You mean swirls in the paint that it used to cover? I don't see how it would, and I've never noticed it on anything I've dipped. I guess it would depend on how clean the surface is before dipping, and how you remove it.

Love the subtle change to the decklid without having to replace the whole **** thing.. I'm sure I'll find more reasons to use the stuff.. I used about 6 coats each of the black and clear. Worked perfect

That's quite a nice result

Plastidip looks great when you take your time and do it right. I've seen some amazing plastidipped cars, and some really terrible ones

It's all in the prep work and the number of coats used

If used correctly, it looks great! I am not a fan of most of the chrome bits, so I (like a few others) dipped the outer chrome ring on the fake gas cap (I did mine with grey instead of black) and the chrome rings on the door speakers... It's not for everyone, but I like how they turned out...

Right. Not my cup of tea, but doesn't look too bad, either. It was applied very well, at least. I think some of the "glossifier" stuff they sell would look good, give it a little shine.

I was concerned if applying and removing could cause issues in the factory finish. Seems like swirls come out of nowhere!

It seems like if your paint is swirl-less prior to applying Plastidip, there's no way it will have swirls after removing it. Anyone considering using the dip should do some practice runs with any metal laying around the house.

I would make sure the paint is spotless before application, then. I imagine any trapped dirt, sand, etc. could be agitated under the plastidip and cause scratches. If the surface is clean there really isn't anything to cause scratches.

Likewise with removal, if you take care doing it and aren't rubbing the hell out of the plastidip I don't see any issues. You should be able to just peel it right off, then hit it with some quick detailer or 303 to get any remaining residue.

I like it too. I've seen some flat black cars around here and now I'm assuming they've been dipped. I guess if nothing lest it a good way to protect the finish.

It really depends on the color. If anyone has instagram, a few guys and gals on there have some amazing dipped/wrapped cars with matte finishes. Rob, Nikki, and Keith come to mind.
