73 convertible

Found this one on Ebay and was wondering what people think. I notice it's got no bids and the ask is over $16,000. Are they asking too high? Is the color turning people off, maybe? It looks like a very nice original:

I like avocado (puke) green.

It agree it sure looks like a nice original - but considering the options, I feel it is a *bit* overpriced.

NADA lists the "average retail" for a '73 vert with A/C at $17600.00.

Low retail is $12500.00
High retail is $24530.00

Freakin' unbelievable...
Original MSRP was $3189.00.

You're not hurting my feelings - I just happen to like puke green, I mean, avocado!... and Grabber Blue!!!

Oh, and drink a German or Austrian beer - you won't want the domestic stuff ever again.

No one goes by that or appraisals, they are so inaccurate. I remember looking at my coupe last year and it said it was worth $17,000 and that was the I6. I'd get maybe half that

This car is worth around 10K.

There's the typical corrosion around the tail lights to contend with. I'd also be willing to bet there's some more underneath the recess area for the top. I'd also be very interested in running a magnet around those fender well chrome pieces since those are notorious for having bad rust.

If it's an all original car with matching #'s, and an in-person review of the car proved there wasn't much more rust that what I see in the pictures, I'd be willing to give $14k for it. But not a penny more. It'll take $10k, minimum, to get it refreshed and show worthy. But the length of time it was owned by the second owner and the condition it's currently in tends to make me think there was more to the project than what he/she originally expected. So now they've sold it off.

Thanks, all, for your expert feedback.

One of these days I'll get around to buying a 73 vert. I just want a basic one with a V8 in good driving condition.
