I will add a picture of the steering wheel and horn button I had bought for this project at the time I bought the guages. It is a real simple 3 spoke design by Pete and Jake's. I am not sure if I am using this wheel or if I will machine my own design. I am leaning towards doing my own but you are welcome to put in opinions if you want. I will post the pics tomorrow.

Now you said you may machine the wheel yourself. Would you outsource that or do it in house? If in house we may need to talk If finances will allow me to get my Cuda project off the ground

The steering wheel would be done in house. You can send me a private if you want.

 

Here is the pictures of the steering wheel I have. I like the simplicity of this wheel but I am not sure I think it is right for this car. A buddy of mine always says that looks like a tractor steering wheel, but then I point out maybe but sometimes simple isnt bad and ends up looking better then some over done one.

I am open for input on this but my gut feeling is telling me to save it for a street rod.

 

Personally I wouldn't use that wheel. Your gut feeling saying that it might be wrong for this car is right.

Yes, I was thinking of following my wheel selection and machining something to match it. That way it will look like it belongs and be a better styling.

If I can figure out how to take a snapshot of surfcam I will post some design ideas. I can do it out of Art Cam Pro I know but never have done it out of surfcam. These are the 2 cad/cam software packages I use.

I have been figuring out the exhaust to and from the turbochargers and the wastegates and think I have that how it is going to be ran. when I get things mocked up then you will see where I am putting the Turbochargers. It should be really cool and something a bit different then done before. At least I have never seen on done like this.

Print screen button doesnt work in surfcam or if it does I am not doing it right lol. I never had a reason to save a screen shot before as mostly when I draw and toolpath something I just send it to the machine and since I am here by myself I know the project so i dont print out anything. I can print the screen and then scan it back in and post it that way which is alot of extra steps and plus I am sure quality drops a bunch. I will work on some designs later in the week and try to post them.

 

did you try and paste your screencap into something like paint? Print Screen copies the entire screen and puts it on the clipboard, it does not save it right away. Once you paste it into a photo editing program then you're good to go.

I been doing a rough calculation on how much the stainless steel for the headers and exhaust is going to be and it scares me. I am roughly looking at $6000.00 I am thinking. The straight pieces are not so bad at cost but U-bends are pricey at like $55.00 or so a piece. If you figure you need 16 U-bends it adds up fast. I remember when I was at Rad Rides by Troy when he was working on Billet Specialties "Chicayne" Troy had told me that the headers were about $6,000.00 I about passed out. What makes it worse is, I should do a set in mild steel first and then duplicate it in stainless because mild steel is so much more forgiving and alot cheaper but today it is pricey too. I also will be purchasing a TIG welder for this project as well as a ..023 easy grind little mig. The rule I go by is the best welders are blue. In otherwords it has to be Miller Brand.

 

$6K for headers???
