1977 Mustang II - Cobra II with a 302
Hey I was looking at a 1977 cobra it
Only has 7420.0 miles on it it's been sitting in a garage for 20 years and they want 8500$ for it, now my question is what is a actual good price for this car I was told it should not be over 6500, it is rust free, damage free just needs some tuning

Amazing. Nada value is at $2 to $6K. Without mileage adjustments. With the average being in the 5K range, for a MII Cobra. Drops a grand without the Cobra package, then another grand with a V6. This is for a 2+2 hatch, just changing those options out.
So... well, no, the 8K is stupid. They're sorta rare, sure, but not that rare. And at that date range, mileage isn't important.
However, it's not 2K stupid. I'd offer him 4K, only because it's a CobraII. Otherwise, 2-3 tops, no matter what. A good unibody II, if you want one, is STILL a find these days... A blank canvas is very useful.
Oh, sure, the II is low low miles. But it's also low low demand.
Your call though... how badly do you want it, how long can you wait, how ornery are you on sticking to your guns on price, knowing that some other person may just say "$8500?! Hell, I'da paid you TWICE that! SOLD!" and take it away from you.
/Because they are out there.

Considering how successful they were back in the day, it's kinda sad to see how undesirable Mustang IIs are now. A few weeks ago on my way to work, I was shocked to see a blue Mustang II notchback, about as plain-jane as you can get, in absolutely pristine condition parked in a parking garage. Around here you almost never see Mustang IIs out in the wild, let alone in such excellent condition. I have no great love for the Mustang II but I thought it was a shame that such a well kept and cared for Mustang will likely never be worth much. Maybe things will change in the future.

If its in good shape, its worth around 4-5k at the top end of the spectrum. they have to be mint or well restomodded to be worth more than that.
and as long as you aren't in a retarded state like california, you should be able to mod that motor pretty easily and rip off all the smog junk pretty easily. Post some pics if you can
But yeah, 8500 is definitely a bit much if its not pristine. and even then, they're more fun when they're not stock :P

Garaged for 20 years - what kind of condition are you talking about? Preserved in a climate controlled garage for 20 years or pushed in a barn to sit on the ground for 20 years? Pics?

A Man Just Needs Some....
It's a cool car for sure. $6500 sounds good because it definitely needs some tlc to be right. Nice find for sure. I would restomod it but leave the exterior the same.
