I have two rows, the first row is about 10' away and the second row is about 16' away. I sit in either. I can make the room pitch black too. Projector is permanently mounted overhead from the ceiling and is whisper quiet. Much quiter than any I've heard before.

It's really not that big a deal. Most people just don't have the room to dedicate to it. I think pricewise a 67" LED TV may be about the same as the projector and the screen. Now the freakin' mount did cost me $1k 
that was a pisser!
Ironically I'm thinking of upgrading to 120". It's like Mustangs. How much HP is enough? TV's how many inches is enough? Just ask Tom's wife.
