Should have done this all summer but no... have to wait till an Arctic storm is bearing down tomorrow.
a) This dead tree was hung up waiting to come down on either one of my stallions and/or crash the fence between the two. Barely held up by a few limbs on another tree. It would have been a real chore in deep winter with snow everywhere and stallions running loose.
b) So I had to build a trap first to catch the tree coming down. I thought that bailing twine would work but added a few more safety catches to be sure.
c) Then cut the hinge so the tree falls back on itself. Ready for the undercut with hardhat on and ready to leap off the ladder - its the top that is unpredictable. Although the hinge can kick out sideways too but I was behind a tree as I cut.

d) Downed it according to plan. Used the electric trimmer saw so as not to spook the horses.
e) Trap worked! That bailing twine is amazing! The orange is 20 yrs old. 3 strands.

I just can't stop watching these Russian driving videos on youtube. Holy hell, how can you possibly have that many idiots and crappy drivers concentrated in one place? 
I don't understand a word they're saying, and I'm not sure what the Russian equivalent of M***** F*****!!!! is, but I'm pretty sure I've heard it a lot.

Come drive in my city. I've driven in a lot of different places, and this is by far the worst considering the relatively small (should be) amount of traffic. I witness 4 or 5 completely stupid things everyday on my 3 mile trip home from work. It's a wonder there's a car anywhere around without damage.
