It freaking took me an hour yesterday to find and format the old windows media player on W8. The new default 'music player' sucks - you can't even stop the audio - as in stop - much less close the app unless you ctrl/alt/del to bring up task manager. Same for their sucky pdf reader.
Although I've learned my way around it (would be easier if I had a touchpad mouse device but oh! my perfectly good XP model won't work), its that they hide so many common things that you therefore have to hunt for. Ridiculous!
Calling the latest operating system a “failure” and Microsoft’s leaders “idiots,” a top tech website has proclaimed the PC era over. Windows is coming to a dead end, they say.
“Look at the numbers: Metro-interface operating systems have already failed,” Vaughn-Nichols wrote in an essay on the site. “Microsoft is betting all its chips on the silly notion that Metro will be the one true interface for its entire PC and device line.”
“Idiots,” he wrote.
While Vaugh-Nichols is clearly opinionated, his perspective was supported by IDC analyst Jay Chou, who told The Wall Street Journal a similar story last week: “The reaction to Windows 8 is real.”

I used the mp several times (audio books) but the pop up display doesn't give you full controls like the former windows media player. I can neither stop the audio nor close the app when I'm done. And rather than being able to load several chapters and play in succession, I have to load each chapter one at a time. And I don't like that ugly backdrop.
There was simply no need for ms to make it so cumbersome for keyboard users.
Windows 8 sucks and I refuse to use it.
I'm plenty used to it.
