Screw that, ours just come in the mail about a month before they're due then you pay online or send in a check.
Changed the oil in the 500 today. Since I have trouble getting up under these low cars these days (well, getting back up is the problem) I looked around first and figured the best way to go at it.
This worked out best and was fairly easy. I put a piece of 1x4 about a foot long on the jack and put it longways on that dropped down section of the frame/chassis about a foot inward from the rocker behind the left front wheel and it matched up perfectly.
Jacked it up there, and removed the wheel....
Which gave me direct access to the oil filter from the side, and the drain plug is in the center of the pan at the very rear. Didn't even have to crawl under it, just lay down next to it and reach in.
The gray piece is the filter....
Of note, the large aero panel under the front of these cars that comes back to about where the suspension starts says remove to change oil. Well, that must just be a common part on the GT/Boss as well and the filter must be toward the front on those because you do not have to remove it on the 500, the filter is at the back of the motor very close to the drain plug.
The filter came off with relative ease, which I was worried about. The original filter on my SGT was so freaking tight that I actually thought I was going to have to jam a screwdriver through it and tap it off with a hammer.
Oil plug came out fairly easy as well. Put a plastic zip baggie around the filter and took it off, good thing too. Even though the filter is straight up and down, oil was running everywhere before I even got it halfway unscrewed. It would have been a freaking mess without the bag around it.
All in all, easy car to change the oil in. Much better than some I've dealt with.
Also, since I was taking the wheel off anyway, I decided to go ahead and do something I'd been planning to do for a while. Took off the locking lugs that the dealer had went ahead and installed before I bought it. They weren't installed on the SGT, were still in a sealed bag in the trunk. I had read several places where people had the key snap off trying to break the lug loose, most likely a combination of a poor design of the key and that the dealer had put them on with an impact instead of a lug wrench. They came right off though, not over tightened at all. Got the regular lugs back on and feel better about that now.

Hated trying to keep oil from the filter getting everywhere when I did the Boss, that **** panel catches any oil that comes out of the filter. Might have to try the plastic bag trick.

Yes, that is him.....We've done quite a bit to that car and fixed a couple of problems that 5 and 7 Ford dealers couldn't find since new. Brian drives it regularly.
