Why do people use pliers on a job that a wrench should do? Pliers will just eat it up. 
If you did this Nathan, you should be banned.
I'm guessing this might have happened at the body shop by some flunky part time floor sweeper they put to work prepping your car for paint.

At this point I'd clamp some vise-grips on there really tight and get that sucker off of there if it was the last thing I do. But I'd protect my paint by covering it, so in case the vise grips slip I wouldn't make a scratch.

Nathan it looks like that instead of your having a stud like Gary's and screw into the base that it screws onto the base. The person that put it on must have put it on using gorilla torque instead of just snugging it.

If you look down at the very bottom of the base, you can see the little grip things buried into the rubber/plastic molding.

I already got the GT's on without a problem. I bought one for the notch over three years ago, but was never able to get the stock one off. I have no idea what ever happened to it though.
