There are two theories, one is thar a feed line bursted due to pressure buildup, the other is that an airplane crashed on one of the storage tanks. This happened close to 1:00am.

I left my windows down today at work...it rained a freakin lot! ugh...strangely the only thing not covered was my seat, haha. In other news, a nice coating of rain x + new windshield wipers = no water on the windshield...and no needing to use the wipers at speeds over 30 mph

The time has come...

Experiment #1 - Remove tailgate for better mpgs?

As you guys could have guessed, my gas mileage ain't too hot. On the 2 tanks I've monitored, of the 3 I've had in the truck so far, I've averaged ~17mpg for the first, and ~16 for the second. I decided I'd try out removing my tailgate, which to my eye is an obvious amount of drag added to the truck. Just driving around the neihborhood, I can feel the ~50 pounds I took off the back. It's got just a tad more pep, nothing to write home about, but it's there. I'll keep everyone updated on my findings

Does it have an air silencer? That might help a little bit too...

A new air filter or aftermarket filter would help too, unless the current one is in great shape and clean.

Plugs, wires, cap and rotor button will probably help a little when you get them done, but 17 is not bad at all for a full size truck (of that era especially). I think mine with the 302 only got about 15-16 and it was brand new.

I got more parts today.

The wheels were here when I got home from work. Along with two other boxes and a big box. I've been eating and doing stuff so I haven't checked them out yet. The wheels are banded together in pairs face to face with the tires on them. I'm assuming my replacement bumper is in the box.

Plus the new motors came for teh pink Mustang.

And we are going on a trip tomorrow so I won't be able to install any of this stuff this weekend.

Sea World.

Those tickets we had back in the spring were two day tickets and this weekend is the last weekend to use the second day. Plus its like a halloween thing going on there. I don't freakin care. But I get to go to that car show in San Antonio on Sunday that the guy with the awesome Barricade clone is going to be at.

The tail gate removal does work when I built bridges and had to drive 2-3 hrs. To get there it helped a lot even just having it down word to

Mythbusters proved you get worse gas mileage with the tailgate down or removed
