I've been working under the impression that the brakes on my new Mustang were Brembo (performance brakes). Finally looked closely and saw the calipers were silver Grey and just marked "Mustang ". So regular oem GT brakes? It's important for ordering a spare tire kit. Sorry to insult intelligence.
What car do you have? Your profile picture looks like an S197, but this is the 2024+ S650 forum. You said "new car" so I guess you are talking about a 2024?
All the Brembo brakes I have seen in the past, say "Brembo" on them, and they are black or red, so it sounds like you have non-Brembo brakes. If you could post a picture, we could tell for sure.
See Pdf's For Examples of 2024 Mustang Front Brakes.
I'm Reading Between The Lines And Coming Up With Base Models Using 2 Piston as Standard Equipment. Standard Gt's Using 4 Piston and The Upgrade for The Gt Being 6 Piston. Now Upgrade Chain As Far as Non GT Models I Have Not Checked into as of Yet.
The Old Order Guide I Referenced Earlier States Comes With 4 Piston on Standard Gt.
{But There are always Package Upgrades & Deletions}.
I'm Guessing You Have 4 Piston Without Confirmation.
I Can Cross Check Better Once I Have a VIN.

OK, think I found the source of my confusion but am no closer to an answer. First to the photos: (note: front is to the right)
Front brake-
Rear brake
My confusion comes from the little/tiny "Brembo" on the front brake caliper at about the 10 o'clock position. And there's nothing mentioned on the rear brake caliper. Do I treat this as a performance brake package when I order the spare tire? No where on the window sticker or supplied paperwork does it mention a performance brake package as part of the build. I'm ok with just ordering the Dark Horse/performance spare tire version in an abundance of caution its just that I'd like to not spend the extra bucks for it.
As an extra added question: there used to be 1 or 2 Ford representatives on this forum to monitor and answer questions. It that something in the past?
So Regardless of Rear You Likely Need The Big Brake Kit! The Big Kit Would Work on Either I Would Surmise While The Standard Kit Would Be Base Or Standard Gt Only.
Again PM Me Your Vin & I Can Shed More Light.
I Know on earlier Models The Brembo Brakes are Front Only. Have Not Researched Rear. Regardless It Clearly States Brembo on Caliper!

Edit
Here Are The 3 Different Calipers For The 2024 in The Rear!
Looks like you've pared it down to the essence. So the caliper "Ford by Brembo" or "Brembo with an essence of Ford"? I'm still thinking of just ordering the performance brake package spare. All bases would be covered. What's your opinion?
Well Here is My Take. As Per All The Info I Could Muster From Ford Info By Vin You Have Standard GT Brakes With 4 Piston Calipers. Nothing in The FORD {Parts Database} Again By Your VIN Indicated Upgraded Brakes. As Far as The Spare Not Coming With Car I Do Know Some New Ford Vehicles Had The Spare Option Eliminated For Whatever Reason. Could Simply Be Covid related Supply Issues and That Early Order guide We Had Simply Had Not Reflected That So Early On.
You Can Either Just Go With The Larger Brake Spare, I Can Not Think Why it Would Not Work on All 2024's it's is More Spendy Though or Give The Supplier a Call & Verify By Piston Count & Caliper Picture if Needed if You Want to Save Some Bucks and Get Their Take. Also I'm Can't Imagine an Expensive Option Like Big Brakes Not Being on Your Window Sticker.

Performance Package (67J) is not ordered.

ordered
Note: Not available with the standard 18” X 8.5” Ebony Black Painted Aluminum
Wheels or 19” X 8.5” Premier Polished Aluminum Wheels (642)
yep, those look like the "base Brembo" brakes on the front for sure -- I think they don't even offer non-Brembo brakes on the GT any more, but I was not sure
interested to hear how this works out, and wondering if it the new spare might work for the older cars, because this is a common question for the older cars too
And in conclusion. It fits like a charm, no bump in the trunk floor. The only thing is that the jack and tools don't nest under the tire or out of the way so I'm going to have to go with a trunk organizer. The last test will be if/when I get a flat but I can wait for that. Also got the same kit for my wife's Acura TLX which likewise didn't have a real spare but DID HAVE the same inflator/tire goop setup as the Mustang. It also installed without a problem. Unexpectedly I now know where the Acura's battery is-in the trunk and inside of the spare tire well. So far I'm impressed with Modern Spare's product.
Thanks all
