I've had a 2015 on order since May 2014. Keeping in touch with the dealer and hearing lots of theories and excuses for the delay over the past months, while waiting excitedly, I was just informed today (Jan 12, 2015) that they are not going to deliver a set number of early production cars, including mine, but rather crush them. I have no fault with the dealer as they have tried their best but Ford sure knows how to drop the ball with their PR.

I’ve updated your case with this request, stang1. She also has a follow up with you on Thursday. Keep me posted.

That’s interesting. Will you please PM me with your dealer’s name and order number so I can check on it, Yeti?

Just a suggestion for the OP. Since you are so unhappy with this car, I would suggest you speak with the dealer (the GM only!) about selling it for you, or exchanging it for another Mustang in stock. It never hurts to ask.

Let's face it, this is a Limited Edition and there are a lot of people that would love to have it.
You never know, he may have a customer that would take it off your hands and be very happy doing it.

I totally agree. I doubt Ford is in the business of crushing cars, especially an entire production run..one or two maybe. One would think the assembly line is checked and rechecked before 'go ahead' is given.

I understand stang1 disappointment (anyone would be) but I feel his best bet is with the dealer.

I just returned from a dealer and after hearing about your car issues he told me that a purchaser has 7 days to return the car with such problems. I understand that in your case it's way past 7 days but this info might still help.

Some states it's less, some have no return date whatsoever. Texas for instance, has no grace period.

Pretty sure California doesn't have such a return period either.

Yes, I'm sure the dealer would be more than happy to buy it back or trade it for another Mustang.

For about $8K less than he paid for it.

Bill ! From my understanding Ford supposedly informed the OP they were planning to crush only the early production models for whatever reason including his thus causing such the long delay..

If the information he received was accurate ? It's unfortunate that his car was included, however I'd much rather wait and be on the safe side than end up with a car that's unsafe to drive

$429,990.00 . That would get you a hand- built car with pretty good attention to detail. BTW, have you ever looked at say, a '69 GT500KR survivor? The only reason they are worth anything at all today is the 100 year old timex theory.
Nah I have to disagree Ive owned a 2005 honda and now 2014 Subaru and the panel fit is near perfect. My 2011 GT is a mess fit wise compared to them. But I love it anyway

Since the car has been at the dealer, my point was the dealer may have another customer that is interested in the LE and would take it back to sell (no cash involved) or just trade it for another Mustang in stock, again no cash involved. The GM's usually see this a gaining a return customer and maybe his friends when he tells them how good he was treated.

I recently gave a 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk back to my dealer for a 2015 due to some problems, even though I had a lifetime warranty from Chrysler. It had over 10,000 miles on it and we did a deal for the 2014 and $4000. The new one is perfect after 3000 miles. So, a good dealer will work with customers. You just have to ask. I have been fortunate to have a great Jeep dealer and also a Ford dealer with great techs.

Honda body panel fitment issues

Subaru body panel fitment issues

I disagree. Nobody's perfect.

Thanks to this thread I checked my body panels and found some flaws. Nothing like the op has, but for what these cars cost it is unacceptable IMO. I always thought when you bought new you wouldn't have these issues. I'm at the Ford dealer now waiting for them to take pictures and send them to ford for approval. So now I have to make a total of 3 trips to resolve this. One today, then another to drop it of to fix then one more to pick it up. It's not that big of a deal but a major pet peeve. Now for the folks saying these cars are not bmw's I still expect better from Ford. My last Mustang not had 36000 miles when I traded it in, and needed multiple repairs once the 3 part of the warranty ran out. One was the fan blower than the interior rear view mirror and then the trunk wouldn't close. All together about $900 in repairs for such a low mileage car. I took another chance on Ford so I hope I'm not constantly at the dealer. For my 2015 I did get an 8 year warranty on it just incase. I think one major repair would make the cost of the warranty worth it. Plus peace of mind.

Thanks for letting me rant.

The dealer told me I have to go to the dealer I purchased the car from, who is an hour from where I live. Says the hood issue is because of a minuscule dent in the hood that they say was probably caused when they where prepping the car. They said Ford wouldn't fix it under the warranty due to it being the dealers responsibility. Looking at it myself I think it's a factory defect since there's no scratches at all where's the dent is. So I made an appointment next week with the dealer an hour from me. I hope I don't have to escalate this issue.
