resonator delete on GT

Hey guys. Brand new to mustang and learning more about the car before I pull the trigger on a GT. I treat drove one and I liked it.
Need to work on the sound but not too loud. Has anyone just done a resonator delete?

Guy on the 6G forums already did it. Took it to a local shop and they whacked it off and welded in an H pipe for $40. No video on how it sounds yet. Funny thing is, there is a manufacturer (MAK) making this part now available to driveway warriors.

But it's priced at $280. Hmmm...Drive to the local shop, let them do the work and still profit! No brainer to me. I just want to hear it and find out if it creates drone removing it.

That person might have lucked out on the 40$ thing. You wont find a deal like that at every shop you go too.

Shouldn't be more than $100 at any exhaust shop...

Looks pretty simple to cut off & run separate 3" straight pipes.

Read somewhere that removing it negatively impacts car performance. It's not just a "muffler" under the hood but serves a practical purpose.

I got a 3" MBRP exhaust with H pipe. Sounds great, no loss of power, prob no gain in power but it has a nice rumble to it and it was about $500.

I am definitely NO expert, but the resonator appears to add a lot of restriction to the exhaust flow and quiets down the sound a lot. Since an engine is a big air pump, I would think that removing a restriction would increase the hp a tiny bit and really free up some latent sound. Am I wrong? Anyone else actually done this and share the results?
