Removing Engine Cover

Does the strut brace have to be removed in order to take off the plastic engine cover on the 5.0? Does the cover simply snap on or is it held in place in some other fashion? Thanks.

I think you need to remove the brace.

Cover snaps in place and can be removed with strut brace in place...although it makes it extremely challenging. Carefully pull straight up on cover, then maneuver it under the brace....or the easy way, remove the brace.

I've removed my plenum cover a few times now. The first time I tried to do it by leaving the brace on and was unsuccessful. It took so many attempts that I just gave up. Now I just take the easy way and remove the brace in a few seconds, and the plenum just pops right off.

My experience, if it isn't painted you can take it off easily without removing the brace. You will touch the brace a couple times but it won't damage the finish. Once you dress it up though it is a good idea to lift the brace up a bit to prevent scratching the new paint job. It just snaps in place on the nubs.
