Maunual or Power?! - Altec Products Show n Go License Plate Transporter
I have a '15 GT....and live in Illinois that requires that ugly a** front license plate.
I found that Altec Products, Show n Go transport that allows you to hide you plate.
I love the videos of the auto one flipping out, but worry that it would not work great or become less effective over time.
Pros, it's cool...if I get pulled over, I can do it from in the car, etc
Cons, How hard to install...I have to hack into the wiring...how long will it work....what about in the winter with snow or parking...does the weight effect the mounting...
I bought the "manual" one, but before I install it I am having second thoughts!
What do you all recommend?

And knowing what winters are like there, I would say the cool factor of the powered unit is off the chart. However, if it were me I'd be sure to take it off every winter and mount the plate static. The auto unit will be subject to the salt spray in winter and there is not enough you can do to keep it functioning. Besides there isn't much profiling going on the Chi over the winter so no bang for the buck trying to keep the auto unit alive.

Agree. I live in NC with just a rear plate (thank goodness) but my home state of Virginia requires a front plate. How may cops ID your car from the front anyway? Waste of manpower and materials.
NC even went to a single registration sticker on the tag (was 2 separate stickers) and did away with the state inspection sticker on the windshield. Of course, now you can't renew your registration unless the big computer in Raleigh says you've had your car inspected AND paid your property taxes.
