2018 gt with performance package level1 questions
Hey has anyone had troubles with there car. I have only 2,600 miles on mine and to be honest although I dont have engine tic or any other issues the thought of having this type of issue is driving me crazy lol. The latest TSB released was also not reassuring. It left me with the feeling that the company cares more about bottom line than customer service. So my question is actually should I look at trading my car in for a Camaro 1ss ile and possibly dodging future issues with my gt,or would that be jumping the gun. Any input would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Re: Wow
Didn't mean for it to sound that way lol.. But just the last thing I want is a broken shift fork or a typewriter tick coming from my car that's all..So I think I will just enjoy the car and keep my fingers crossed..

Just because there's a TSB it doesn't mean you vehicle will have that issue. The TSB's are there for all the service departments to use as a quick reference for an issue instead of spending large amounts of time on diagnostic labor. As you can see when reading them it usually gives the parameters of the issue and if they aren't met it sends you to basic troubleshooting. If you go to any website that's shows TSB's you'll probably find more than a couple of dozen for each vehicle made. It's highly unlikely you'd have all those issues as there's usually build dates involved meaning a part was manufactured incorrectly during that time span. Drive your new car and enjoy it. It's under warranty and parts get changed on vehicles all the time. It doesn't matter whose manufacturer you use; Ford, Honda, GM, etc. they all have some form of build issues. This will make you feel better. Toyota frame recall.
Show me a company that doesn't care about the bottom line more than the customer. That's why they're in business. To make as much money as possible.

Richard, my dear old Dad always said don't worry about something that hasn't happened yet, and may never happen. My suggestion, just drive the car and enjoy it. My wife's '18 GT has been great with no tick. And, if it starts the tick I'll have it checked out. But, until then we gonna drive her.

No one including Ford can guarantee that you'll never have a problem with your car, major or minor, that's why cars come with warranties. One thing can be said with a very high level of certainty is that you will lose your a#* financially if you trade in a one year old car with only 2,600 miles on it. Ford sells a lot of Mustangs. If these cars were blowing up all over the place after developing some sort of ill defined "tick" you can be pretty sure it would be big enough news that you wouldn't just hear about it on car enthusiast web sites. It would be all over the major media, just like other auto maker's problems have made the news. Enjoy your car and if anything major is going to go wrong it will probably happen in the first three years or 36,000 miles while you still have bumper to bumper coverage. If in two or three years you still want a Camaro or any other car you can trade for it then when you won't take such a financial loss.

Thanks for all your input the car has been a pleasure to own and drive. I think I just got caught up in the internet reading to many bad reviews lol. Because actually if I gave a review of my car it would be a very good one. The 6 spead is a blast to drive. I only wish there were more curvy roads in my area lol. Again everyone that's

If I were going to be concerned about anything it would be the 3/4 shift fork. In any case if the fork is going to break it should happen before 5 years or 60,000 miles. Yes curvy roads and manual transmissions are made for each other. Nothing like late braking and a well executed heel and toe downshift followed by a good throttle application.

You said previously that you wished for more curvy roads in your area. I understand anyone's desire not to give out too much specific personal information, but do you mind revealing in general terms what part of the country you live ? NE, SE, Midwest, Etc. You can see from my profile that I live in SW Illinois. We have our share of hills and curves here and even more directly across the Mississippi river in S. Mo.

I live in middle Georgia...I am a truck driver so I actually dont get to drive my car much..if I where to hit the good roads North Georgia would be the place to go...I have been through your part of the country several times it's nice in the summer..

From central Il.north winters can be pretty tough, here in the S. third of the state it's not bad at all. The last 25 years or so it's been really mild. I have friends that live about 25-30 miles west of Savannah,Ga. so I've had an opportunity to travel a bit in Ga. You're right about N. Ga. being the best part of the state for hills and curves.

Here's the sad, but unfortunate general truth about tires. The higher their performance capability the more they cost and the shorter their useful lifespan. Living in central Georgia you may be able to run summer tires year round, but be advised that while they have excellent grip in warm temps they tend to fall off a cliff below 50* F. when Chevy was building the 5th. gen Z28's they were lucky to get 5,000 useful miles out of a set of really expensive tires. This was partly due to the rather extreme negative camber that was speced. They also flat told owners not to drive on them below 50*. Living here in SW. Il. I sacrifice a little ultimate grip for some practicality. I am currently running Michelin Pilot Sport AS3+ tires. They are usable in sub-freezing temps, but they still don't have the same grip in the cold as they do in warmer conditions. They aren't cheap, but they do have a reasonable lifespan. I would either become really good friends with a local tire distributor or shop at Tire Rack or Tire Discount Direct.

You can usually find a good set of summer only performance tires for $8000-$1,000 if you watch for sales, less if you want to go with off brands. I paid around $850 with shipping for each of the last two sets of Bridgestone's that I bought. I seem to get around 20,000 miles or so out of a set with some track time.

I've never used them, so no personal experience to speak from. They seem to be more popular with drag racers than corner carvers. Tire Rack does their own independent testing and shows the results on their web page so I would start there.

Tires
First of all, I am not a brand loyalist when it comes to tires and such. I had a caddy CTSV and ran Goodyear f1 all seasons. My 2018 PP1 gt came with PS4's and I loved them. Even ran on the track with them and as far as a summer street tire I feel they can not be beat. But due to the fact that my car if mostly a freeway transporter I went with the AS3's because they should last twitch the time. Just my two cents.
