My 2015 EcoBoost convertible just went over 200 miles. I filled her up with premium gas, but couldn't really feel a difference. I was thinking about doing my first oil change with Mobil 1 5W30 at 3000 miles. Is this good or should I change it sooner? What type of oil, gasoline are you guys using for your ecoboost cars?

Howdy-As with most things, everyone has their own opinions. And I don't have an Ecoboost, but had a 2013 Focus St, and 3 weeks ago, I purchased a 2015 GT 5.0. I just turned 1200 miles and I plan to change the oil this weekend. I have heard all the reasons to do this, such as: break in oil change to prevent break in metal shavings, to with the current quality of engines and oils, this would be a waste of money. So lets call it "Peace of Mind", that I prefer to change it early, and then on a regular 3000 miles afterwards. I ALWAYS use 93 octane, but then I do have a Coyote V8, but use 93 in my ST too. I also choose to have my local Ford dealer perform all my services, again call it peace of mind, warranty enrichment, whatever. I do know they use full synthetic, however as this is a new dealer for me, I don't know what brand they will be using, but will find out. Enjoy your Mustang, and get your own brand of Peace of Mind. Drive On.

I first changed my oil, in my 2015 ecoboost, at something like 950 miles. Same reasons Leosim mentioned, and I was leaving on my first 4 hour road trip. When I bought my car new from the dealer I got the life time oil changes (synthetic x2 a year) for $600, so I will be changing oil around every 7500 miles or 6 months which ever comes first, and I plan to use the dealership for all services (until they give me a reason not to, been happy so far).

I've been running mostly 93 oct for fuel, but am still "testing" the differences between the octanes. The only difference I've been able to initially see is in MPG.
Still need to test some more but at 93 oct I'm getting around 21.5 MPG (mostly city but a little freeway), and last tank of 91 oct I saw around 20.5 MPG. (Those MPG's are the trip gauge in the car, need to do the figures myself to verify.) MY first couple tanks I ran 87 oct and I think MPG was around 20 (I'd have to dbl check my numbers there).
I think, MAYBE, I could tell a slight difference in the "get up and go", but I'm still not sure it was not just me.

Hope that helps.
