I understand. But the snipe and run doesn't cut it.

And apparently there is no reply after their boastful claims... only run.

Really dude? Are you that guy? Are you that guy on this forum that just lives to argue with people just for the sake of having an argument?

Snipe and run? Whatever. So dumb I'm not even going to bother responding on that.

With respect to your 254K truck that you run on crap gas. Good for you. I don't care. Nobody else cares. You aren't going to change my mind. I'm going to keep using Shell 93 octane for the benefit of my motor because I know it's an effective way to help keep my intake valves clean. What do you care if someone uses 93 and you don't? If the whole world doesn't subscribe to your point of view so what. It's not a reason to start an argument. It's certainly not a reason to start hurling names like "fool" around. The only person on this thread that needs to grow up is you. Now I'm done discussing it with you because I know that all you really want is to turn this into a big argument that will stretch out for 3 or 4 pages and accomplish not one thing except to satisfy your need to have a pointless argument.

I reiterate - detergents can only do so much in an internal combustion engine. Don't give me that bull oh wise one. That's how you got banned before remember? I will certainly believe a nuclear physicist (that is a well noted public scientific expert that regularly exposes the industry over its lies), over someone like Uncle Buck who is in the industry that has a vested interest. >> For the record, I only run brand X 87 from high volume stations. My '83 F150 has 254k on it - what do your engines have? As for Shell - I have occasionally filled up with their 87. My engine pings like crap. I don't understand why when it runs brand X 87 with no ping. Every 3-6 months I spend $6-8 bucks on a bottle of Regane or Techron. 30+ years and still runs great. When I want to have some fun I run higher octane in Bullitt. Otherwise I put a few extra bucks in my pocket rather than the greedy oil industry. They have bled Americans enough that I'm not going to throw extra coin in their coffers. Premium fuel most certainly is a higher margin product. **** your money away as you see fit, I don't care. But don't come on here making outrageous claims.
Bill Wattenburg is an idiot that has been banned from the radio for over two years here in the Bay Area.

He's a vile individual that bases his knowledge about petro chemicals on 40s tech. He says that it makes no difference what octane you run in your car. High octane is a fraud.

This same guy said all nuclear reactors are safe. Then came Fukushima.

I used to listen to this guy daily just because I likes to hear how full of **** he is.

Back to additives.

Thanks for the info about brands and additive levels. It appears that not only do you get a higher octane level from premium gas but also a significantly higher concentration of carbon cleaning additives.
But I still have a question about how much better cleaning you get with higher levels of additives. Many people believe that a higher dose is always better than a lower one. Some people take mega-doses of vitamins thinking that 5 times the recommended daily dose is 5 times better. But for most vitamins, your body simply excretes the extra amount you don't need.
So an additive level double that of another brand may not be giving a double level of cleaning.
I wonder if any of the brands or testing companies have checked to see where the additive level versus cleaning power looses its effectiveness.

My god. What is your problem? Lol. Oh I forgot, your post count makes you so much better than everyone else.

You must be mistaken. There was never "over the top disrespect". I used the word "a$$" in reference to a member. And he wasn't a mod. Tom flew in out of no where and banned me. When I got other mods involved who took my side, he extended my ban out of spite. There was no warning. No "trying to cool jets". Learn the facts before you slander me all over a public forum. Because you're boarding beyond breaking forum laws and rubbing up against breaking local laws if I chose to pursue.

Regarding my "bait". I brought up my uncle in an unrelated post and elaborated on his background to an inquiring member. It wasn't a set up to get you angry dude. You and only you made the choice to disrespect myself and in turn, my uncle. Who given his already disclosed background becomes even more disrespectful. Unless of course you don't care about our military. My comment had everything to do with your post btw.

The only one being over the top disrespectful on this forum is you sir. And you do it consistently. To every member. You constantly bring up your bullitt and think that because you have a billion posts and a 10 yr old SE that you have the right to do so. I'm sick of it. This forum seems to always move smoothly until you jump into a thread, offend people, and get things off topic for two pages. It's unreal.

More blatant over the top disrespect. Hmmm.

Everyone wants the last word.

I lesson we could all use - you don't always need to respond to posts you disagree with. Continuing an argument can be just as bad as starting it.

So: Locked.

If the OP wants the thread reopened, then he can PM. But, I think he has the main questions he asked answered. What we're left with is arguing over detergents in gas that has gone nowhere and spiraled into personal attacks.
