The car plays fake engine sounds over the stereo and that's it. Even if its just reprocessed sounds of the engine in the car it is still playing fake sound over the stereo. And no that is not the same thing as putting an aftermarket exhaust on the car to change the sound. Not even remotely the same.
I think we will have to agree to disagree. In my mind amplifying the sound and playing a recording are two very different things. Pick your favorite musical artist. You go to their concert. Would you be as happy with your experience if they just played the CD while jumping around on stage? Or do you expect to hear them actually singing, just amplified.
Yes the engine went quiet when they pulled the plug, the amplification went away.
I still maintain we don't have a definitive answer on the amplification or recording question.
You may say that doesn't matter to you as either is unacceptable in a car, but for me I'm ok with amplification but not ok with the playing of some recording.
